Our Body is the Compass for our Soul. It speaks to us via the language of sensation but so few of us live in our bodies & know how to be with our experience. We were never taught how.
When our beliefs, behaviours & patterns are incongruent with our truth, our heart, our essence..... our soul communicates that incongruity…. through our bodies! Our life force is inhibited, Our tissues contract, we experience flatness & heaviness, twisting in our guts or tension in our jaw & shoulders... Our bodies communicate our soul misalignment to us directly. But are we listening?
When we are lost in our heads, rather than grounded in our bodies, we are no longer attuned to our somatic wisdom. And when we don’t feel, listen & take heed of this internal intelligence & realign & re-choose, then our otherwise temporary discomforts eventually turn into holding patterns, chronic pain & even disease.
Our Bodies are Sacred.
Our Bodies are SOVEREIGN.
Our Bodies communicate our INNER AUTHORITY.
What an incredible gift the somatic intelligence of our body is. An incredible, in-built, inherent gift. That no-one ever really taught us about.
We have created the Embodied retreat as an opportunity of invaluable time & space to come together, immerse in beautiful nature, & empower ourselves with accessible, trainable skills to come back home to our bodies & re-member how to listen.
Time to commit each day to re- focusing our attention inside & via potent embodiment practices, to literally enlarge a part of our brain called the insula, which is responsible for our interoception, our sensitivity to our internal somatic experience, which with the right tools, is an incredibly trainable skill!
The more we shift our focus inside, the more body wisdom is revealed to us & a whole internal universe opens up to us, including a direct connection to our knowing, our wholeness & our authentic truth.
Our Body is the Internal Compass to Our Soul ✨️
Our Body is our way Home.
Re-connect, Re-member, Re-Empower !
Are you ready to come home to your Somatic Sovereignty?

Embodiment Practices
Embodiment Practices :
5 Days of Deep Dive Sessions into our Body’s Somatic Sovereignty
Interoceptive Yoga :
We need to FEEL to HEAL.
Interoception is an attunement to the internal felt sense of the body & is a highly trainable skill !
Interoceptive Yoga is the birthplace of embodiment & takes us on the sacred journey from our heads to our bodies where profound healing & revelation takes form .
Sensation is registered by a part of the brain called the INSULA which also has direct inroads into the area of the brain that stores our emotions. Connecting more deeply with our sensations, activates & enlarges our insula ,allowing us to become aware of where emotions are expressing as sensation in our bodies.
People with thicker insula’s not only have enhanced interoception, but score higher on empathy tests & have a higher capacity to feel the felt sense of others. This can allow others to feel “felt & seen” in their company & creates an emotional resonance IN THE BODY, known as empathic attunement.
Developing the capacity to feel our internal landscape lays the foundation of all somatic trauma integration & resolution work. Not only allowing us to connect with & release the trauma held in our tissues, but unlocks access to the deep wisdom & knowing that lies within the intelligence of our embodied presence .
Embodied Unwinding :
After experiencing stress, emotional turbulence & trauma we can get “stuck’
in survival phisiology .Often symptoms such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, emotional triggers, rage & depression, are indeed survival responses that have gotten “stuck” in our tissues.
In order to create resolution & embodied integration, we want to allow the unwinding of these stuck areas & holding patterns in our physiology.
Meeting these sensations with conscious awareness on a felt sense level, helps these sensations to “unstick” & resolve.
In Embodied Unwinding, we create space to allow the body to unwind itself innately, tapping into the bodies natural intelligence & following its lead with refined sensory awareness & compassionate curiosity. Creating the conditions where the body can feel safe enough to unwind naturally by itself, held in compassionate presence.
Embodied Presencing :
Our mental‐emotional health follows the state of the nervous system. And our physical health follows the state of our mind. The Bodymind is one organism.
When we bring awareness to a tension in the body there is often a natural softening that happens & the underlying affect (psycho‐emotional content) reveals itself & begins to unpack.
In Embodied Presencing we cultivate our interoception (capacity to attune to our internal felt sense) & learn how to be with our sensations in a way that allows them to be felt, seen, heard, & organically transmuted, when held in the light of our refined compassionate presence.
" When we visualize breathing into body areas it is not just visualisation. We know now from neuroanatomy that when we focus our attention on a particular body part & breath into it, the metabolic rate of that body part goes up, there's greater oxygenation, there's greater exchange of nutrients & neurological functioning improves. Bringing awareness into body areas enhances our interoception : our capacity to sense the Body from the inside & experiencing the internal nuances from gross to subtle, of thesoma. With each practice we are increasing our neurological capacity for interoception. Our thinking mind and the vast field of awareness that is our body are not well consciously connected in most of us. The mediating structures that bring information from the Body to the left brain ie.the corpus collosum & other structures are actually fairly fragile & they tend to atrophy when we don't pay regular attention to our body. But when we start to do these practices we start creating a healthy creative interchange between body & the conscious mind . " Reginald Ray
Nervous System Rewire :
An essential component to Embodiment is cultivating the capacity for authentic embodied relaxation & nervous system regulation.
This practice is designed to empower students with tools to regulate their bodies stress responses by rebuilding a robust & adaptable nervous system.
A collection of breath & brain training self regulation practices to soothe & ground our nervous systems & restore vagal tone & equilibrium. Rebuilding our inner resilience & capacity to effectively metabolise & bounce back with ease after stress .
Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra :
Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing practice that invites profound rest to our body, whilst cultivating a peaceful relationship with our mind.
The deeply relaxing long held postures support the reversal of the stress response in the body, tonifying & nourishing the nervous system & nurturing the organs that play a key role in restoration & renewal.
Each posture is supported with an abundance of props & cushions, so the body is able to completely let go & focus on the meditation of simply resting in effortless awareness & bathing in the vitality available in this & every present moment.
The practice completes with a profoundly restorative yoga nidra meditation to deeply relax, regulate & tonify the nervous system.
Yin Yoga :
In Yin Yoga we explore long held therapeutic asanas that generate the flow of chi through the fascia & the energy channels of the bodymind.
Releasing deep layers of contraction held in the connective tissue & influencing the 12 main meridians that feed into all of our primary organs.
We invite suppleness & flexibility into the physical body & restore harmony & balance to the mental & emotional bodies.
Whilst cultivating Mindfulness; the art of neither withdrawing from nor identifying with whatever arises, physically, psychologically & emotionally.
Thus allowing deep release on all level of our beings & inviting integration of Body, Mind & Spirit.

Nefes Vadisi is located in the Bodrum peninsula, an hour from Bodrum, half an hour from Milas and Mumcular, and 40 minutes from the airport and Ören and Çökertme ( two tourist villages on the coast ) Outside the village of Çiflikköy.
Çiflikköy is a relatively high village in the area (300 – 350m above sea level) and very spread out consisting of seven clusters of houses.
Summers can be hot and dry and generally cloudless so suncream and/or a hat are essential as well as hanging out by the pool! In fact quite a few animals also drink at the pool at night; land turtles, the odd fox, badgers, hedgehogs and porcupines and of course, frogs.
During the day, if you are not in the pool, house martins dive down to sip the water on the wing.
Temperatures in Turkey have become more extreme throughout the years. In the winter of 2022, it snowed and the snow settled for the first time ever. In the winter of 2023 there were 10 nights of continuous frosts, again a most unusual event.
Winters should be much wetter than they have been in recent years, leading to local wells running dry by late summer. At Nefes Vadisi they have mitigated this by building a series of ponds and swales and berms as well as maintaining and improving the existing terracing so as to allow more water during large rain events to sink into the land, thereby reducing run-off and erosion and slowly raising the water table.
