Increased stress, overwhelm, global crisis, soaring rates of abuse, anxiety, depression and mental health issues all around the globe show us that humanity is screaming for something different.

Many of the systems and structures we've put in place clearly aren't working, in fact they are crumbling and collapsing.  And, so are we.  A predominantly traumatised and dis-embodied society has resulted in numbness to the natural world, a misplaced worship of material things, and a subsequent disconnect from our own senses, selves and the environment that surrounds us.

The U.N reports that 75% of trauma doesn’t come from a battlefield, refugee camp or natural disaster, such as an earthquake, it is interpersonal. Inflicted by one person over another, often purposefully.

In other words, every ‘body’ in our yoga classes holds unresolved trauma. In this post #MeToo era, which affects men and women alike, as teachers, we are being called to step into greater service. To learn how to cultivate, create and provide containers of deeper safety and presence, both in ourselves and for others, to educate ourselves about consent, safe touch vs. triggering or re-traumatising touch, to raise our awareness around embodiment and the conditions, survival strategies and patterns of armouring and protection that keep us in the states of avoidance, spiritual bypass and disembodiment. So that we can ground, regulate our nervous systems, reconnect to the earth and to each other.

By developing our therapeutic presence we can, in the moment, more fully attune to ourselves and our students on a multitude of levels—physically, emotionally, cognitively, somatically and spiritually. Offering others the opportunity to really feel safe and seen, possibly for the first time. This is an essential step in providing spaces where painful or rejected parts and traumatic experiences from the past can begin to be acknowledged and integrated.

Tina’s work centres within the understanding that many of the contractions of the body-mind are a manifestation of identifying with thoughts and behaviours that are misaligned with the truth of who we are.

All of Tina’s embodiment based programmes focus on consciously unravelling these holding patterns within our body-mind's, in a myriad of ways, with guided transformative loving awareness.

In cultivating the art of heart-centred embodied listening : deep presence, curiosity, directed awareness, compassionate holding and conscious breath within each asana, Tina’s work engages all eight limbs of yoga on the mat.

In connecting to their innate essence as loving presence students learn to contain, embrace & integrate all that arises, embodying the integration of their body, mind and spirit.

Throughout the last decade Tina specialised in Yin Yoga & Embodied Mindfulness, and Yoga Therapy for Women's Wellness.

More recently in response to all that she has learnt directly in her recovery from her own battle & growth with trauma & nervous system dysfunction, she passionately expanded into Embodied Trauma Integration practices including Nervous System Regulation, IFS (Internal Family Systems), Somatic Experiencing, Trauma Informed Yoga Nidra & Trauma Informed Yoga.

Emma Diamond

MFS, BA, Trauma Focused Psychotherapist

Teaching Internal Family Systems Therapy : Theory & Practice

Emma is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with fifteen years of experience specialising in the healing of trauma. Working with creativity, curiosity and compassion Emma champions hope and healing after traumatic histories of abuse, intergenerational trauma and complex or toxic relational dynamics.

Through Internal Family Systems Therapy, an evidence- based, non-pathologizing approach, she supports students and clients in recognising that we all innately have the capacity to heal and integrate painful experiences by compassionately connecting to the parts of us that have worked hard to survive, protect, relieve symptoms and to manage our lives, as well as the parts that hold the original pain of experience. Once resolved, resourced and integrated we have access to our fullest selves, and, as teachers, capacity to then develop and maintain therapeutic presence for others.

Emma works to integrate body based therapies into her treatment plans for clients, recognising it is in working with the felt experience, sensations, somatic connections and body memory that we can get to know the stories of ourselves.

We are a multitude inside, multi faceted and unique, adapted to survive and needing our most authentic Self to feel whole and present. In order to work with and through trauma we must know how to listen inside. The practice of Yoga naturally turns the focus inward, the practice of IFS utilises compassion and curiosity to enter a dialogue inside that deepens connection and understanding.

Emma facilitates a process of deep listening, acknowledging, understanding and unburdening, that is profoundly transformational.
